The Brewery Square, Dorchester has brought many restaurants, bars & cafes to the area. Mostly they are nationals, but scattered close by are a few wonderful independent establishments and Yalbury & Yvon’s is one of these gems.
Yalbury & Yvon’s, patisserie & wine bar is a collaboration between Yalbury Cottage, Lower Bockhampton and Yvon’s Artisan Patisserie, London. With creative skills like these involved, Yalbury & Yvon’s is a must destination for pastry & food lovers everywhere. It is a little off-piste, but head for the south railway station and it is nestled in the large Dukes Auctioneers building.
We have been several times now, as we love the relaxed atmosphere, plus the efficient and friendly service from everyone. The menu is split into three, the first is their Artisan Patisserie Selection, this is where Yvon comes in. They make these delicate and delicious cakes, leaving Dan Meech (chef) to finish them off with a garnish of fruit & glaze etc. If you go for their Sunday roast for £9.95, you also get one of these wonderful cakes as your dessert!!!!
They open at 9am ready for their breakfast menu, you can have a French Pastry & coffee or salmon & scramble eggs, even a Dorset fizz of local sparkling wine & orange juice! Their coffee is excellent as well and perfect for breakfast (or any time!), their flat white is particularly good and strong, just how it should be!
Their lunch menu (starts from 11:30 – 16:30) contains a great choice from soup of the day, to dressed Portland crab, cheese soufflés, gammon salads and delightful frittatas..
Or possibly the best burger in West Dorset!!
But if you enjoy hot chocolate, then this is the place to have a truly great one – it is served on a board with a large mug of hot milk and you slowly immerse the chocolate basket into the milk and whisk up – there is a lot of chocolate and drama in this!!!
Yalbury & Yvon’s is a great place to refuel, even if it just for a coffee and one of their cakes, give it a go and we will see you in there!!!
