Fantastic news for those in Dorset with a sweet tooth; a handmade fudge pantry has come to the streets of Weymouth this February. New shop owner Matt Jones has added his own twist to the traditional seaside treats offered in the town, opening a Roly’s Fudge Pantry on St Albans Street.
Roly’s Fudge Pantry creates award-winning handmade fudge from natural ingredients in more than 25 fudge pantries across Britain. Matt has served the existing shops as a General Manager over the last eighteen months, and has been tempted into setting up a shop of his own.
“We have many fudge pantries along the south coastline of England, and Weymouth was the next stop on the Jurassic Coast,” said Matt, director of Roly’s Fudge Weymouth. “From working in the office for the company, I’ve seen a lot of potential in the business model. I wanted to invest in the franchise by opening my own shop.”
The shop was opened on Saturday February 13th by the mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Christine James.
Ever since Roly’s Fudge began in 1978, making fudge with a copper pan on the kitchen table, it has been dedicated to providing classic “crumbly” fudge. The mixture is made from natural ingredients and cooked in copper pots, before it is poured out onto marble slabs where passers-by can watch it cool and be cut.
Bestselling favourites include Vanilla Clotted Cream Fudge, Maple and Walnut Fudge, Rum ‘n’ Raisin Fudge, Chocolate Fudge and Sea Salt Fudge.
Over the past several years, Roly’s Fudge has received nine commendations from the Great Taste Awards and eight from Taste Of The West.
Roly’s Fudge Weymouth will be open daily on St Alban Street, from 10 AM – 5 PM Monday – Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM Sunday.
