Walking into the Ship Inn at lunch time during the week you get a feeling of that warm and nice village pub. There are men sitting at the bar and by the open log fire with their ales and further into the pub there are people sitting down for food.

We popped in last week for a quick mid week lunch in the Ship Inn in West Stour. The pub is very easy to find as it is located along the A30 between Shaftesbury and Sherborne. We had been there before but at weekends rather than midweek. The menu is extensive with plenty to choose form and there is also a smaller menu for lunch time. We both chose from the lunch menu this time (not pictured).

We had ciabatta sandwiches which were served with salad and chips. Soup of the day sounded good on a cold January day too but this time we didn’t have it. The ciabattas were same as you would get anywhere so they possible were not the best choice for any foodie reviews as there are lots more exciting things on the menu!

We didn’t have any desserts last week just coffees to finish our lunches.

All in all as a midweek lunch the Ship Inn is not the cheapest option but it is a lovely country with open log fire and this time of the year I do like those kind of pubs. I could sit by the log fire all day with newspapers.
