This small Thai restaurant is tucked just away from the hustle & bustle of Weymouth Esplanade, quietly serving quality Thai food since 2015. What better place to hold a mini works reunion for a visiting ex-colleague from Canada.
Inside is small and very cosy with a great family feel to it. Which isn’t surprising as it is the Kanniya family that run the restaurant, with Mum – Ann Kanniya, Thai Chef and cocktail server.. (more on this role later)
There were eight of us, we were warmly welcomed in and soon enjoying glasses of wine (£13.00 a bottle) or beer and crunching on spicy prawn crackers. The menu has a large selection of Thai dishes, meat, fish, vegetarian and set menu’s for the undecided. There is also a chilli grading on each dish, helping you choose the right heat for you.
With Ann the only Chef, food can take a little longer than usual, which wasn’t a problem for us with lots to talk about – babies, Canadian smoked meats, beers etc. For starters I had the Thai House Mixed Platter, which were delicious dunked into the sweet chilli sauce.
As for the mains, my Panang King Prawn Curry was full of Thai spices, creamy coconut and finely shredded lime leaves, giving it a fresh citrus twang. Everyone else was very complementary about their dishes and every plate was soon clean.
Ann had now finished cooking and came out to meet everyone. This is when she made some impromptu cocktails for everyone, we still have no idea what was in them but they were very enjoyable & full of alcohol..!
Our visit to the Thai House Restaurant was an absolute pleasure, we enjoyed the food, the very friendly atmosphere and great value for money. If this has whetted your appetite, make sure you book before you go or you could order a take-away, whatever I know Ann will be pleased to hear from you.
