Many of our friends have said great things about Tamburino restaurant in Sherborne so we finally visited them this week. One of us has spent extended periods in Italy and knows his Italian food – and expects high standards if we ever manage to talk him into visiting one in the UK. It was definitely a good start to find out our waiter was Neapolitan!

There is a lot of pasta and pizza to choose from and children have their own menu if they wish to choose something different. Sometimes I find too much choice hard but eventually I settled for pizza and my husband chose pasta. Children chose from their own menu, one of them often goes for margarita pizza. This one was rather large and delicioius too.

Our main courses Tagliatelle Mare e Monti and Gordon 1921 were both delicious dishes. Italians certainly do know how to prepare their pastas and pizzas and we enjoyed our meals. I didn’t manage to get any photos of our starter we shared – we were too hungry! Mozzarella Allo Speck was mouth-wateringly good.

Only one of us managed a dessert after these dishes, our daughter had ice cream which was part of the children’s menu. Tamburino Gold delivered excellent service and delicious food. We hadn’t booked but took a chance and hoped it would be quieter during the week leading to Christmas but I would certainly book for weekends.
