Would you like to shop local? And know where your food comes from? At Swans Larder they only sell products from local small companies and individual producers. Swans Larder is there to support local producers and give them a space where to sell their wonderful products. The shop is run entirely by volunteers.

Swans Larder is located in the heart of Shaftesbury at Swans Yard. They have freshly baked cakes by Berry’s Bakes and fresh vegetables from Shaftesbury Community Farm in most days as well as fresh eggs from a local farm. On the shelves they have a range of products, from Radiant on raw to Gourmet Popcorn and Chocolates by Chocolate Arthouse. A lot of products they have are from individuals who only sell their products at Swans Larder such as Jenny’s Marmalade, Fab Fudge (Rosie’s Kitchen), Mollie’s Mellows and Shaftesbury Honey.

Other producers attend fairs and/or sell their products online too. Shaftesbury snowdrops and Cyril’s Soap Shed are the only ones to stock non edible products in the shop. Simply Raw do vegan and gluten free cakes, cookies and crackers. Sycamore Kitchen have choice of chutneys and jams on the Swans Larder’s shelves.

Springfield Dressing have assortment of dressings available at Swans Larder. There is flour on the shelves that comes from Sturminster Newton Mill. Honey Pot Farm produce cider vinegars, elderflower cordials and apples juices. Swans Larder also have a shelf for Fairtrade products. If you need coffee they stock 918 coffee or if tea is more your thing then Teatonics can be found at Swans Larder too. Shaftesbury Gold produce marmalade and jellies which are stocked at Swans Larder.

In the cold section they have Great Aunt Lucie’s ice-creams and products from The Real Cure company which I have previously reviewed separately (link here). There are also sausages from Sam’s Pigs and Pure Pigs (these are separate companies).

If you haven’t yet visited this wonderful shop supporting these local producers do pop in. They are currently open Monday to Tuesday 10 to 1 and Wednesday to Saturday 10 to 4. As the shop is run by volunteers these hours are subject to change.
