The Slug and Lettuce in Weymouth has only been opened for three weeks and I have already heard good reports, so when we were asked to review their Cocktail Masterclass, we jumped at the opportunity.
Inside is bright and modern, plenty of seating and a vibrancy about the place that lifts your spirit as you enter. It was only 18:00 and already the majority of tables where taken with customers enjoying the food & drink.
We were there to try out their Cocktail Masterclass and from just £25.00 PP, you will get a glass of Prosecco on arrival, make two classic cocktails (your choice from the list), enjoy a large buffet to share and finish off with a bomb rally (Jäger, Skittle or Glitter Bomb).
Our mixologist for the evening was Ramtin, who had been working locally for several years before moving to the Slug and Lettuce.
Everything was ready to mix our first cocktail and this was a Pornstar Martini – in went Absolut Vanilia vodka, Passoã liqueur, caramel syrup, sugar syrup, lemon juice, pineapple juice and passion fruit purée. Then lashings of ice and we were soon shaking away like mad, before carefully pouring it into our cocktail glasses and adding a slice of passion fruit. It was a real sweet fruity little number and washed down with a shot of Prosecco.
Food was starting to arrive, so we put a halt to proceedings and tucked into the delicious & very generous buffet.
Time for our second cocktail, the classic Cosmopolitan – in went Absolut Citron vodka, triple sec orange liqueur, lime juice and cranberry juice. Our enthusiastic shaking and giggling was now attracting attention from the whole bar! The Cosmopolitan was our favourite cocktail of the two, zesty and refreshing.
We ended the evening with a Jäger Bomb, our first try of this nightclub favourite, which rounded the evening off with a bang. We really enjoyed our Cocktail Masterclass, what a great experience, Ramtin was charming and everyone else made us all feel extremely welcome.
The Cocktail Masterclass is perfect for hen & stag dos, work nights out, date nights or just a group of friends getting together – try it, you wont regret it.
