Mother’s Day is just around the corner. If you’re struggling to know what to get your amazing mum, here are some local food gift ideas and special offers/menus for eating out in Dorset.


Biscuits by Sarah

Sarah has been decorating biscuits for nearly 5 years now, for wedding favours and gifts. Last year, she also started offering Biscuit Decorating Classes and Parties to share her passion with others. 

Sarah’s classes are relaxed and fun and many of them are held in a local pub in Southbourne. Adults classes last 2 hours where you learn some different decorating techniques and decorate 5 biscuits to take home.

For Mother’s Day, Sarah is running a class on Thursday 28th March, 7:30 – 9:30pm at the Brewhouse & Kitchen, Southbourne. Sarah brings everything you need (including the biscuits) so you can tun up, have a drink and get decorating and the best bit is (apart from sampling a biscuit in the class) is that you get to take home your beautiful biscuits as a gift for your mum or special lady in your life!

Julie is the owner of Sweet Indulgent Fancies and has over 30 years experience of making delicious sweet fancies. 

Julie’s passion is designing and creating beautiful bespoke cakes. She is also happy to cater for any special dietary requirements.

Foodie Fine Dining Society – 

Foodie Fine Dining Society is an exclusive space for Dorset fine dining and wine enthusiasts. It is a community for like-minded folk to be able to share in all things gastronomic. It’s also a way of showing just how much we love the incredible produce available on our Dorset doorstep.

The next dinner event ‘Le Festa di Piazza’ is at The Italian Villa, Canford Cliffs, on Friday 5th July from 6:45pm. Booking essential.

Home Farm Shop –

Home Farm Shop is a family run, working farm in Tarrant Gunville which is situated in the Tarrant Valley in rural Dorset.

The farm comprises of a farm shop where customers can purchase traditional, home-made and local food and hampers for those special occasions. 

Also onsite is a tearoom serving farmhouse breakfasts, light lunches and traditional cream teas. Why not treat mum to a Vintage Afternoon Tea or buy a gift voucher for your Mum to use whenever she fancies!

Mapperton House & Gardens –

Home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, Mapperton, located in Beaminster, is a glorious sandstone manor house and romantic valley garden in unspoiled countryside. Fifteen acres of gardens descend from the croquet lawn, through the formal topiary down to the wild garden.

The Bunker Cafe & Bar –

The Bunker is a cost rustic café and bar, located in the St Catherine’s Hill are of Christchurch. They’re also doggy friendly!

Mums can enjoy a free raspberry mimosas with the all day brunch menu. 

The Sandford Pub – 

The Sandford Pub is a family friendly pub, located on the main road in the village of Sandford. Well known by the locals for its good, home-cooked food and large bar selection.
