Exciting 6 week foodie event launches in Weymouth

Plans for an exciting new dining event are under-way throughout October and November in Weymouth. FEAST Weymouth, supported by Weymouth BID already have some of Weymouth’s top restaurants on-board and is set to have many more sign up over the next few weeks. Mallams, The Dining Room, The Dorset Burger Company, The Balti House, The George Bar & Grill, Il Porto, The Ship Inn, Moby Dick’s, The Red Lion, The Monkey’s Fist, The Galley Bistro, The Crows Nest, Manbo’s and Sense are all leading the way with the early stages.

‘FEAST Weymouth’, is a 6-week long celebration of local independent eateries, which aims to draw customers into Weymouth throughout a traditionally quiet period in autumn to sample the delights of Weymouth’s varied foodie scene.

Ali Record of The George Bar & Grill comments: “We are delighted to be supporting this new event. Weymouth has been crying out for an event like this for years and we look forward to a great autumn.“

Weymouth BID will be funding the event for the local businesses and all Bid levy payers will be able to participate free of charge. The event is also open to any businesses that are non BID levy payers, but a small voluntary fee will be required. The fees from non levy payers will help to cover the costs of marketing and advertising .

Alison Theobold joint chair of Weymouth BID comments:
“A dining event out of season had always been in Weymouth BID’s business plan. With such an array of Independent eateries, we really wanted to celebrate them and draw people into the town. We have seen the success of Tenner Fest in Jersey and look forward to making FEAST Weymouth a popular yearly event for Weymouth.”

The FEAST Weymouth promotion will work with each participating venue providing a set-menu or offer within the price ranges of £10, £15, £20 for customers to dine at their establishment throughout the month of October and until the 15th November. Each venue will have their own terms and conditions so diners are encouraged to call ahead and book. Menus for each participating venue will be displayed across the weareweymouth website and Weymouth BID website.

Janice Gossen from Mallams comments;
“This is a great event that could really enable businesses to flourish during a quiet time in our seasonal town, we look forward to supporting anyway we can”.

Katharine Wright of Dorset Food & Drink has also offered her support for the event.
“October is fast becoming a very ‘foodie’ month for Dorset, we have Dorset Food Week and Screen Bites which is now celebrating it’s 10th anniversary all happening in October. I think FEAST Weymouth is a very exciting new event which I believe could one day work for many other towns in Dorset”
