Festivals and Events
Hugh has been getting involved with the plans for the Food Fair next May. He has invited some inspiring speakers, including columnist and author George Monbiot and great chef’s including Michelin starred Tom Kerridge.
The Sherborne Castle Country Fair presents a rich and fun programme of events, country activities, stands and entertainment including one of the largest Rare Breed Shows in the country. For one day each year, one of the finest settings with its spectacular grounds and lake surrounding Sherborne Castle is transformed into a fun packed Country Fair with attractions, entertainment and activities for all the family. We look forward to welcoming you to for great day out with your family.
The fourth Highcliffe Food Festival takes place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June this year. The headline sponsor is once again Hoburne Holidays, and in line with previous festivals it will major on quality artisan foods.
Many other local businesses are also sponsoring at various levels and already over 75 stalls have been booked, with products for sale ranging from quality meats, cheeses, patisserie, fish, oils, vinegars, garden furniture, knives to several stalls selling artisan gins, wines, beers and spirits.
There will be two demonstration kitchens featuring top local celebrity chefs from the area’s outstanding hotels and restaurants.
There will also be two stages of musical entertainment presented by Highcliffe’s own music studio, HP Music, to help make the Highcliffe Food Festival a true feast for the senses!
This is truly an event for the whole family with several venues around the village providing entertainment for all ages both fun and educational.
Combining food, drink and entertainment, this is definitely a date worth adding to your diary.
Swanage Fish Festival celebrating all things ‘fishy’ – food, fishing and fun.
Join us for this special vegan friendly tour of Furleigh Estate to celebrate Bridport Food Festival.
On arrival, you will be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine before our experienced tour guide Nick Beecheno leads you down to the vineyard to tell you what’s happening with the vines at this vibrant time of year.
After a tour of the winery, where you will see how our award winning fizz is made, we will return to the Cellar Door tasting room for the wine tasting.
To complement the wines, Hungry Mule catering company have created a collection of delicious plant based canapés. Victoria Bishop, our resident food and wine matching expert, will guide you through the different flavour combinations to see which ones work best, inspiring you with some fresh, healthy and exciting food and wine pairing ideas. Tickets are £25 per person
Dorset Midsummer Music Festival (or DorsetFest) is a family friendly music festival set in the heart of Dorset in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 2018 festival will start at 6pm on the evening of Friday 15th June and the main festival will then be on Saturday 16th June. Gates open at midday and the action continues until 11pm with food, drinks and gift stalls, alongside children’s entertainment. Camping is also available on site for those who want to make the most of the weekend
BRIDPORT FOOD FESTIVAL is run by the Bridport Local Food Group, a committee of dedicated volunteers with the aim of supporting producers and promoting local food.
Juliet Harbutt, International Cheese Expert, presents English Artisan Cheeses & Furleigh Wines

We are delighted to announce that Juliet Harbutt, author, educator and judge, will be presenting an introduction to English artisan cheeses with a selection of Furleigh Estate wines at the vineyard on Thursday, 28th June. We are very fortunate to have secured this evening with Juliet on her whistle stop tour around Europe while she is visiting from her native New Zealand where she returned to last year.
Please join us from 6.45pm for a glass of Furleigh Estate Classic Cuvée, for a 7pm start. Tickets are £25 each.
The Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival is a charitable event celebrating Dorset’s inseparable links with the sea and its fishing communities and takes place around Weymouth’s historic Old Harbour.
